Islamabad: 16th April 2025: Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhary met with the first batch of agriculture scholarship students at Islamabad International Airport today, prior to their departure for China. These students have been selected under Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s groundbreaking initiative to uplift the agriculture sector. They will receive advanced training in modern agricultural sciences and technologies at leading Chinese universities.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal remarked that the students are the promising sons and daughters of the nation and future architects of Pakistan’s agricultural development. “This training program is not merely an academic journey but marks the beginning of a new chapter in national progress,” he said.
He encouraged the students to benefit from China’s advanced technologies, research, and practical experience, and upon their return, contribute to innovation, self-sufficiency, and sustainability in Pakistan’s agriculture sector.
The Minister advised the students to make the pursuit of knowledge their mission, to learn from China’s discipline, research culture, and professional expertise, and to dedicate their skills to the country’s agricultural advancement upon returning home.
It is worth mentioning that under this historic initiative, 1,000 agriculture graduates will be sent to top Chinese universities for professional training in nine cutting-edge agricultural fields. In the first phase, a batch of 300 students is departing for China today, marking a significant step toward transforming Pakistan’s agricultural economy along modern lines.
